Davao Light optimistic about smooth transition in Davao del Norte

THE DAVAO LIGHT and Power Company Inc. will formally operate, bill, and collect payments in its expanded franchise areas in Davao del Norte and the Island Garden City of Samal, following a recent order from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Under ERC Case No. 2025-038 MC, Davao Light has been designated as the sole power utility in the province, and the directive aims to eliminate consumer confusion and prevent double-billing in the covered areas.

During a press conference on July 6, Arnel Bersabe, senior assistant vice president for North Davao, said the company is fully committed to ensuring a seamless transition and upholding quality services to its customers.

Bersabe also announced that DLPC has deployed a mobile contract signing team to far-flung areas to provide consumers with convenient and accessible services.

The company’s full operations had taken effect at noon on May 26, 2026, and began billing electricity consumption after the implementation of the supplemental writ of possession by the sheriff of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 2, Tagum City.

The ERC ordered the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORDECO) to immediately cease all billing and collection activities in Samal, Tagum City, and the municipalities of Asuncion, Kapalong, New Corella, San Isidro, and Talaingod.

The cooperative is also mandated to turn over all consumer records and billing data to DLPC within 15 days.
