Davao athletes honored in 32nd SKC Awards

Davao City – The city’s athletes who took part and garnered medals in recent national and international competitions were honored in grand rites during the 32nd So Kim Cheng Sports Foundation Awards night held 18 July at the Eskina of the Lanang Business Park.

Shining the brightest in the city’s longest running sports award giving body were karatekas Eduardo Berco Jr.and Hailey Dominique So of AAK (Association for the Advancement of Karatedo) – Davao City Chapter who were honored as Male and Female Athlete of the Year, respectively. Karate mentor Al Stephen Magatao was named Coach of the Year while Rameses Tancontian of the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association was handed over the Sports Leadership award.

Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation Incorporated-XI, which has countless competitions here and abroad was given the NSA (National Sports Association) of the Year as received by Region XI Director Rommel Tan. Davao City Sports Council Inc. President Dexter So along with officials from the So Kim Cheng Sports Foundation – So Peng Kee and Dexon So, City Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre and Councilor Bai Hundra Cassandra Dominique Advincula who represented Mayor Sebastian Duterte, awarded the athletes with their respective plaques of recognition and trophies.

Outstanding city-based athletes were also honored during the awarding night on their respective sports such as archery, arnis, chess, cycling, karatedo, motocross, muay thai, para-games, rugby, sepak takraw, tenpin bowling, volleyball and wushu.
