SHINCHEONJI Church of Jesus The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (SCJ)- Philippines expressed profound joy and encouragement upon hearing that 84 churches in Ethiopia have officially changed their signboards to bear the church’s name.
“Here in the Philippines, many pastors and members of different denominations are also studying the revealed Word through the Zion Christian Mission Center (ZCMC). What we are witnessing in Ethiopia is a reflection of what is happening worldwide—believers awakening to God’s promise, leaving behind division, and coming together as one family in Christ,” said Instructor Harold Recio from ZCMC, SCJ’s theology arm.
Eighty-four churches in 10 cities in Ethiopia changed their signboards to Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony recently.
Shincheonji held a “Signboard Replacement Ceremony for 84 Ethiopian Churches” last September 10.
During the ceremony, 84 pastors became members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus and pledged to preach the words of the New Covenant, the Book of Revelation, and unite under the “revealed word.”
This achievement stemmed from Pastor Assepha Angheto, chairman of the Misgana Church Association, who attended the “2nd Special Lecture on Revelation for All Nations” held at the Cheongju Church of Shincheonji last November 2024. He, then, returned to Ethiopia, his home country, and continued to hold seminars for local churches.
Prior to this event, Pastor Angheto held seminars at over 100 churches in 10 cities, sharing the revealed word he learned from Shincheonji.
Shincheonji considers this signboard change a significant achievement, extending beyond a simple name change to a Word-centered transformation throughout the Ethiopian church community.
At the ceremony, pastors representing 84 churches pledged, “We have become members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus who have mastered the word of the New Covenant Revelation. We will spread the word of Revelation throughout Ethiopia, and both pastors and congregation members will strive to follow only the truth and diligently fulfill our ministry.”
A representative of Shincheonji Church of Jesus’s Peter tribe stated, “Currently, 181 pastors in Ethiopia are learning the revealed word of Shincheonji Church of Jesus. We will spread the word widely that the prophecy of Revelation has been fulfilled today and strive to unite the churches of the world in the word.”SCJ has 12 tribes, Ethiopia belongs to Peter tribe while the Philippines belongs to John tribe. Other tribes are James, Andrew, Thaddeus, Philip, Simon, Bartholomew, Matthew, Matthias, James, and Thomas. These tribes are SCJ’s organizational groups named after the Twelve Apostles of Jesus .The tribes are founded on the structure described in the Book of Revelation.
