DAVAO CITY, Philippines — McDonald’s Philippines continues its growth and scaling as it
opened its 800th store in the country last June 30. This milestone store is located at Davao
Global Township, an emerging central business district infused with a park-inspired lifestyle in
Davao del Sur.

The store opening comes as McDonald’s Corporation in Chicago, Illinois granted a new 20-year
franchise to Dr. George T. Yang, Chairman and Founder, and Kenneth S. Yang, President & CEO
of Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC). Under the new term, George and Kenneth
Yang will continue operating and growing the McDonald’s brand in the country, including sub-
franchising its restaurants, until 2045. The Yangs have held the master franchise of McDonald’s
in the Philippines since 1981, when the golden arches opened its first store in Morayta, Manila.

“The opening of our 800th store is another milestone for McDonald’s in the Philippines,
following our new term license agreement with McDonald’s Corporation. It is a reflection of our
stewardship of the business—our commitment to growth, and our continued commitment to
the customers and communities we serve. With 800 McDonald’s stores and growing, we look
forward to creating more feel-good moments and memorable experiences for more Filipinos in
more parts of the country,” said Kenneth S. Yang.

Open for 24 hours a day, the new branch is situated at Matina Galleria, Gen. Douglas
MacArthur Highway, Talomo, Davao City. It is the 22nd McDonald’s store in Davao City, and the
1st to have a Bike & Dine. The 179-seater restaurant is available for dine-in, take-out, ride-thru,
and McDelivery, and has a Party Area perfect for celebrations.

Boosting Local Employment

The opening of McDonald’s Philippines’ 800th store has created new job opportunities for the
residents of Davao, providing gainful employment to almost 100 people from the city and its
nearby areas. Restaurant crew and managers are hired through a direct recruitment process.

Today, McDonald’s Philippines’ workforce is over 65,000 with about 70% of those as working
students. All employees enjoy job security and receive government-mandated wages and
benefits. They also undergo world-class training and holistic learning and development to
further their professional growth.

McDonald’s 8th Green & Good Flagship Store

As one of the Green & Good flagship stores of the QSR giant, McDonald’s Davao Global
Township is equipped with solar power, rainwater harvesting tank, power-saving photo and
motion sensors, LED lights and a more efficient air conditioning system.

Part of its commitment and support to sustainable active mobility, the newest store also
includes bike-friendly features such as a Bike and Dine which serve as a perfect pitstop for
cyclists during their rides.

McDonald’s Philippines’ other Green & Good stores are located at UN Del Pilar (Manila), Shaw
Boulevard Wack-Wack (Mandaluyong), Mambugan (Antipolo), Delos Reyes (Tagaytay), Nuvali
(Sta. Rosa, Laguna), Sta. Monica Commonwealth (Quezon City), and Ayala Crescendo (Tarlac).

Grand Opening

Demonstrating its commitment to the local community even before opening its doors,
McDonald’s distributed 800 McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen meals to beneficiaries of Barangay
Matina Aplaya CDC and the Badjao Community.

To celebrate its unveiling, McDonald’s Davao Global Township treated its first 800 customers to
a free 1-pc Chicken McDo. McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang led the
unveiling ceremony of the new branch.

As part of the celebration, McDonald’s unveiled a special store marker dedicated to their
President and CEO. The marker symbolizes the journey of purposeful growth—driven by strong
values, a commitment to excellence, and the visionary leadership that continues to shape
McDonald’s Philippines.
