Davao De Oro – The visit of Governor Raul Mabanglo and first district Congresswoman Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo to the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital (DDOPH) in Montevista became an emotional one yesterday to inspect the health facility in line with their commitment to address its problem.
But two officials were almost heartbroken when they met patients suffering from lack of facilities and infrastructure that had just begun but not finished.

“Instead of the patient being good, the disease might get worse here” said Gov Mabanglo.
The couple who had already allocated funding from a Congressional Initiative for the project are aiming to plaster plans to improve the facility and infrastructure.
Gov. Mabanglo did not agree with what he experienced in his more than two hours of rotating in the hospital because the patients were only looking at the wards on the first floor and lined the pathways from the unfinished second floor ward building. This project started in 2023.
The Governor and Congressmen have only been forced to review the plan because it’s not what they expected.
With the original plan of cooperation between the DPWH and the Provincial Engineer’s Office, Gov. Mabanglo and Cong. are willing to trust. The second floor ward building will be renovated so that patients and watchers can provide a comfortable place. The Governor and Congress know personally. Some watchers were forced to take the Montevista overpass to rest from the heat inside the establishment.
Hospital lacks proper ventilation, toilets have no water, dirty corners filled with garbage, laboratory destroyed and facade area so far not cemented.
But what grinds officials’ hearts most is the lack of medicine stocks that even the most basic over-the-counter paracetamol needs to be purchased at the opposite pharmacy.

“We’re going to buy all the drugs outside sir, even cotton on our prescription,” a patient observer said.
Because of these known problems and shortages, the Governor and Congressmen have doubled down on the start of the hospital’s recovery.
Gov. Mabanglo also reminded the hospital employees to serve the people properly.
“Even if the patients are bitter, if the employees have bad attitudes—their calamity will be doubled inside our hospital… “The Governor will be honest.
Gov. Mabanglo wants a major change in this kind of problem especially since he prioritizes the health aspect. PAO-IPRD
