CACAO de Davao aims to collaborate with more local restaurants and establishments in Davao City to showcase the best cacao products and elevate the city’s culinary scene.
Ethan Kyle Lim, president of Cacao de Davao, said they have lined up activities for June and will partner with more brands in the future. The brand will forge its next partnership with the “Hey Monday!” restaurant.
Lim highlighted that the collaboration will help the local farmers by providing them opportunities and opening doors to brands in Manila and Cebu to see what Davao has to offer in terms of the best quality of cacao.
The collaborations will also go beyond Davao City, reaching other cities in the country as well as international brands. He believed that cacao has a big potential not just as a chocolate but can be crafted into skin care products and others.
He also said the cacao operations, supplies, and everything else are okay for now, but he encourages finding ways to sustain the industry.
“One thing we can do to sustain this is to expand the farms, open many opportunities for the farmers so that they can be encouraged to sustain cacao farming,” he said during Wednesday’s media forum on Jun 3.
According to the Department of Agriculture (DA) XI, the Davao Region is the Philippines’ top cacao producer and accounts for 72 percent of the country’s total cacao production.
Cacao de Davao recently partnered with local brands this year, namely IKAO Restaurant & Bar, Siempre Taqueria & Bar, and MUNI Mixology + Kitchen.
The restaurants showcased unique chocolate-based dishes and drinks that are all made with pure cacao for guests to try.
