THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry–Davao City reported on Friday that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities remain stable.

Lucky Siegfred M. Balleque, DTI-Davao City director, said basic necessities, prime commodities, and condiments are still within the suggested retail price.

“We monitor to make sure the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities do not exceed the SRP. So far, I’m glad to report that the prices in Davao City remain stable,” Balleque said during the Business Forum on Friday.

Balleque specifically mentioned the price rollback of bottled water, such as Absolute and Summit drinking water, since December 2024. Additionally, the Bear Brand 135g has rolled back more than P5.

During their monitoring, there were 13 establishments that exceeded the SRP on sardines, instant noodles, meat loaf, and corned beef.

However, the variance of the price is just less than P1 per product, which is attributed to logistics, packaging, and raw materials.

“We issue a Letter of Inquiry to them for them to explain the increase, and if they are able to explain, we won’t file any necessary case,” he said.

However, the price of some basic necessities has increased, such as coffee refill products, since April.

These products include Blend 45 Pure Soluble- Supermarket, Great Taste Premium (25g and 50g), and Great Taste Granules (25g and 50g).

Belleque said it should be noted that these products have been delisted in the SRP.

“Although we monitor them pero just in case molampas sila sa SRP, since they are delisted, we could not take any action,” he said.

He urged retailers that while these products are already delisted in the SRP, to sell it at a reasonable price.
