THE COMMANDER of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), Lieutenant General Luis Rex D. Bergante bid farewell to the troops of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4ID) at Camp Evangelista on Nov. 6, 2025.

Set to retire on Nov. 15 after 39 years of service, Bergante praised the division, emphasizing, “4ID still is the fightingest division,” as he lauded their significant contributions to sustaining peace and development across the region.

The visit was part of the retiring commander’s final engagements across his area of responsibility.

Bergante was received by Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr., commander of 4ID, along with the officers and staff.

During the executive session, Anayron presented updates on the Joint Task Force Diamond’s major accomplishments, particularly in maintaining stability and supporting development in formerly conflict-affected communities in Northern Mindanao and the Caraga region.

The 4ID commander also provided updates on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations being conducted in connection with Typhoon Tino.

In his “Talk to Troops” at the 4ID grandstand, the EastMinCom commander reflected on his tenure, expressing pride in the 4ID’s unwavering commitment to duty.

“I would like to thank the 4th Infantry Division for all the support that you have given to the Eastern Mindanao Command,” Bergante stated. “Actually, you have exceeded my expectations with your outstanding performance.”

As his final instruction, Bergante reminded the soldiers to always prioritize their personal well-being, health, career growth, financial security, and, most importantly, the welfare of their families.

The event concluded with Anayron presenting a commemorative memento to the outgoing EastMinCom Commander, symbolizing the troops’ profound respect and admiration for his exemplary service.

Bergante shared a traditional military boodle fight with the Diamond troopers, a symbolic gesture of the unity and strong bond among soldiers dedicated to peace and sustainable development.
