A NEW Love Bus Libreng Sakay route from Toril to Roxas and vice versa will begin operations on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Davao Region announced on Wednesday.
LTFRB said six buses from Davao Metro Shuttle will serve the Toril-Roxas route to help alleviate the transportation shortage.
The service is part of the national government’s efforts to expand accessible, reliable, and passenger-oriented public transportation and to address the changing mobility needs of Davaoeños, the LTFRB said.
For the morning route, the buses will be from Toril District Hall, with bus stops in Fusion GTH; Pepsi Dumoy; Bago Aplaya Crossing; Coastal Road Times Beach; Ecoland Terminal; Felcris Centrale; Davao City Police Office; and CM Recto Avenue; before ending at Red Cross Roxas.
Going back, buses will leave Red Cross Roxas and pass through bus stops on Artiaga Boulevard; Felcris Centrale; Yellow Fin Quimpo; Coastal Road Times Beach; Shell Bago Aplaya; IWHA, and GTH; before ending at Toril District Hall.
Meanwhile, for the afternoon and evening route, the Toril-bound trip in the afternoon and evening starts at Davao Light on C. Bangoy Street instead of Red Cross Roxas.
Buses then stop at UM Bolton; Felcris Centrale; Yellow Fin Quimpo; Coastal Road Times Beach; Shell Bago Aplaya; IWHA; and GTH, before ending at Toril District Hall.
The Roxas-bound trip follows the same stops as the morning route, from Toril District Hall to Red Cross Roxas.
The Love Bus, launched in August 2025, was formerly known as the Department of Transportation’s Libreng Sakay Program, patterned after the Metro Manila Love Bus introduced in the 1970s.
Private bus operators serve the program under a service contracting scheme with DOTR.
The buses provide free rides during peak hours: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
LTFRB said free commuter services continue along the UM Matina–Mintal and Lasang–Sasa via Roxas routes.
As of September, the Love Bus had served 3,324,305 commuters across these routes.
