IN A strategic move to strengthen regional connectivity ahead of the upcoming holiday season, Cebu Pacific Air will soon resume its direct international routes from Davao to Hong Kong and Bangkok (via Don Mueang International Airport) while simultaneously ramping up frequencies on its Davao-Siargao and Davao-Iloilo routes.
This was reported by the airline’s chief marketing and Customer experience officer Candice Iyog during its Business Review with local stakeholders from the travel and tourism sectors on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Park Inn by Radisson Davao.
Starting Oct. 25, CEB will restart flights between Davao and Hong Kong four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday), departing Davao at 8:20 a.m. and arriving in Hong Kong at 11:50 a.m., while the return flight will leave Hong Kong at 12:35 p.m. and land in Davao at 3:55 p.m.
On Oct. 26, the airline will relaunch its route connecting Davao and Bangkok three times weekly (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays), expecting the flight from Davao to depart at 5:00 p.m. and arrive at 8:30 p.m., with the return leg departing Bangkok at 9:15 p.m. and arriving back in Davao early the next morning at 2:50 a.m.
In addition to its international expansion, Cebu Pacific is also boosting the frequency of its popular domestic routes, increasing its flights between Davao and Siargao from 6 times a week to 10 times a week. Furthermore, the Davao and Iloilo route will see a substantial increase, moving from 10 weekly flights to 14 weekly flights. This strategic enhancement of its flight schedule highlights Cebu Pacific’s commitment to strengthening Davao as a vital hub for both local and international travelers.
“We’re making sure that despite all the challenges, we still believe that the potential is there. We remain committed, and we will continue to invest in our Davao hub,” Iyog said.
The flights were temporarily suspended due to soaring global jet fuel costs driven by the Middle East crisis.
“We remain confident in the long-term outlook for our industry because of our cost leadership and market leadership, and strong network,” she added.
Apart from the flight resumption, Iyog also reported on the positive performance of the airline’s Davao hub for the first half of the year compared to 2025 figures. CEB offered close to 2 million seats for the first half of the year, a 10% growth. The airline flew over 1.4 million passengers from its Davao hub, a 4% growth year-on-year, aligned with its system-wide growth in terms of passengers. It also operated over 9,000 flights, a 6% increase.
Responding to the airline’s optimistic outlook, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. vice president for trade & commerce Engr. Juan Carlos P. Quinto expressed their support for the airline.
“For every route opened is a door to a market, and every additional flight is an opportunity for a business meeting and investment, tourist arrival, a new partnership, or a Filipino enterprise to reach the world,” he said.
Department of Tourism XI regional director Tanya Rabat-Tan echoed Quinto’s sentiment.
She acknowledged CEB’s support for the various tourism initiatives of the region, such as the Davao Adventure Challenge, and looked forward to more partnerships with their “steadfast partner in the skies.”
