Davao archers eye medals in 2026 BIMP EAGA Games

Davao City – Davao City-based archers who are currently seeing action for the National Youth training pool are eyeing to reap medals in the coming 2026 BIMP-EAGA (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East Asian Growth Area) Games this coming 23-27 November in Malaysia.

Mateusz Vaughn Johnson and Abigail Jane Lim who recently saw action in the 2026 Singapore Youth Archery Championships garnered podium finishes in the U18 Compound Men and Women’s divisions.

“We will be competing in the coming 2026 Kadayawan Philippine Archery Davao Leg Championships this August 18 to 23 at the Tionko field. It will be part of our preparation for the international tournament,” said Lim on Thursday, 23 July at the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum.

“This will be a good preparation for us as we expect other archers from the country to also compete,” added Johnson.

Prior to the 2026 Singapore Youth Archery Championships, both archers took part in last year’s Batang Pinoy Games in General Santos wherein Davao City placed third overall as they channeled the city’s gold medal haul in come from behind fashion.
