89 arrested as DCPO intensifies week-long anti-crime drive

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) arrested 89 individuals and confiscated over ₱1.68 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of coordinated operations conducted across the city from July 12 to 18, 2026.

Under the leadership of DCPO chief COL Peter B. Madria, the city’s police force carried out sustained enforcement actions focusing on four core directives: anti-illegal drugs, illegal gambling, wanted persons, and loose firearms.

For instance, DCPO units conducted 28 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 34 suspects and the confiscation of 123.718 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of ₱841,282.40 and 7,008 grams of marijuana valued at ₱840,960.

The total drug haul for the seven-day period reached ₱1,682,242.40.

Wanted persons and illegal gambling

In targeted operations against fugitives, police executed 29 operations, capturing 29 wanted individuals, including 11 most wanted persons operating within the region.

Simultaneously, police clamped down on illegal gambling through 18 operations, leading to the arrest of 25 gamblers, the confiscation of ₱24,890.00 in bet money, and the formal filing of 18 court cases.

Loose firearms

To prevent gun-related violence, the DCPO mounted 13 operations against loose firearms, resulting in one arrest and one illegal firearm confiscated. It also received 11 surrendered firearms and two more for safekeeping. 

DCPO officials emphasized that the week-long achievements reflect the effectiveness of proactive policing combined with active community involvement and support from local barangay officials and the Davao City government.

Police authorities reiterated that all enforcement operations were carried out in strict compliance with Police Operational Procedures and with full respect for human rights.
