- 2 arrested as Ecoland police seize dried marijuana in afternoon bust
POLICE Station 15 (Ecoland) operatives intercepted ₱1.3 million worth of suspected dried marijuana leaves and arrested two alleged drug peddlers during an afternoon sting operation at around 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15.
Ecoland police commander PMAJ Rosario T. Aguilar reported that the packs of dried marijuana were ready for distribution if not intercepted. The identities of the two suspects were withheld pending the filing of the case against them.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director PCOL Peter B. Madria commended the Ecoland police for the successful operation.
“This accomplishment underscores the lead unit’s resolve to protect the community,” Madria said.
He credited the active intelligence-sharing and close coordination with barangay officials, the local government of Davao City, and residents for the accomplishment.
The confiscated illegal drugs have been turned over to forensics for tests, while the two suspects face a charge for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
