MAWAB, Davao de Oro — Mayor Myrill L. Apit recently turned over 20 concrete garden tables with built-in chess and dama boards to Mawab Central Elementary School, providing students with additional learning and recreational spaces within the campus.
This is part of Mayor Apit’s thrust in strengthening the municipality’s commitment to quality education,
The newly installed garden tables were formally received by Rosario A. Noñeza, District Coordinating Principal of the Mawab District and School Principal IV of Mawab Central Elementary School.
Designed to serve multiple purposes, the concrete tables offer learners comfortable areas for studying, collaborating with classmates, taking breaks, and enjoying educational games such as chess and dama during their free time. The project aims to promote not only academic learning but also critical thinking, social interaction, and camaraderie among students.
In a statement, Mawab Central Elementary School expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Apit for his unwavering support of education.
“These durable new fixtures beautifully enhance our school grounds, giving our learners comfortable spaces to study, collaborate, and grow. Even more exciting, these tables feature chess and dama boards, providing a fun and engaging space for our learners to play, sharpen their minds, and build camaraderie during their lunch and break time,” the school said.

“Education remains one of our highest priorities. Through simple but meaningful projects like these, we hope to create learning environments where our children can excel academically, build friendships, and enjoy their time in school,” Mayor Apit said.
The turnover of the garden tables forms part of the municipal government’s continuing efforts to improve school facilities and provide quality learning spaces for every Mawabeño learner.
