- Buhangin underpass temporarily closed for repairs
THE DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) will temporarily close the Buhangin Underpass from April 17 to May 17, 2026, for repair works.
Motorists traveling in the Buhangin area are advised to expect traffic disruptions during the closure to give way to the drainage rehabilitation.
The City Transport and Traffic Management Office announced traffic schemes to manage vehicle flow along the affected stretch of C.P. Garcia Highway and nearby intersections.
“Kini nga proyekto gipahigayon aron masiguro ang kaluwasan sa mga molabay ug aron mapaayo ang kalidad sa atong dalan,” CTTMO in a Facebook advisory.
Under the rerouting plan, several “no left turn” policies will be enforced to minimize congestion and ensure safety while repair works are ongoing in the underpass.
Vehicles coming from Tigatto Bypass Road will not be allowed to turn left toward C.P. Garcia Highway.
Similarly, motorists from C.M. Garcia Road heading to Cabantian Road and those from CP Garcia to Buhangin Milan are also restricted from making left turns, except heavy trucks.
Vehicles from Dumanlas Road toward the C.P. Garcia will also be restricted from making left turns.
“Sa panahon sa pagsira, ginasugyot ang tanan motorista nga mogamit sa alternate nga mga dalan aron malikayan ang taas nga trapiko ug kalangan sa inyong biyahe,”CTTMO stressed.
The DPWH earlier deployed maintenance teams to the Buhangin Underpass to address recurring issues such as flooding and drainage concerns.
To note, the Davao City Diversion Road – Buhangin–Tigatto Road (Buhangin Galleria Section) officially opened on Monday, April 13.
DPWH XI spokesperson Dean Ortiz, in an earlier interview, said the Buhangin-Tigatto road is expected to help manage traffic flow at the Milan intersection in Buhangin, especially with the upcoming repairs of the Buhangin Underpass.
