A FIRE ripped through a residential area in Barangay Tibungco, leaving four structures destroyed and a young child injured, around 11:04 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.
Davao City Fire District spokesperson Senior Inspector Frances Mae Sendrijas confirmed that a 6-year-old girl sustained second-degree burns to her left shoulder and immediately received medical attention.
No fatalities or missing persons were reported in the incident.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the fire spread rapidly, totally burning three houses and one educational building. The incident displaced at least three families.
Through the coordinated efforts of the Davao City Fire District, the blaze was declared under control at 11:40 p.m. Firefighters continued to spray water on the embers for another half hour until a “fire out” was officially declared at 12:11 a.m. on March 27.
Investigators are currently determining the cause of the fire and the estimated cost of the damage.
