DAVAO City commemorated peacebuilding and community cooperation as it marked its 4th anniversary of being insurgency-free at Rizal Park on Tuesday, March 24.

The event featured a testimony from a “friend rescued” or a rebel returnee, highlighting the city’s progress toward lasting harmony and the success of reintegration programs.

Magpasalamat pud diay ko sa Peace 911 kay tong panahon na naa pami sa Malabog wala gyud mi nila gipasagdan labina pud sa mga kapulisan,” said Jonalie Teves, a former rebel, during her thanksgiving speech.

A pledge to sustain peace, led by Task Force Davao, emphasized the collective duty of safeguarding public security.

Military personnel and local government officials also expressed continued support. At the same time, video messages from Vice President Sara Z. Duterte and a message from Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte, delivered by Congressman Omar Vincent Duterte, reinforced the importance of unity and vigilance among citizens.

Congressman Duterte expressed hope that achieving peace would become easier in the future and that a culture of security would spread not only across the Philippines but throughout the world.

The program concluded with a ceremonial dove release, symbolizing peace and hope, reaffirming the city’s commitment to maintaining stability and development.
