SUPPORTERS across the country welcomed March with coordinated activities under the banner “Green Rise Action and Hope for 2028,” a movement described as a nationwide show of unity anchored on the values of tapang and malasakit (strength and compassion).
The day’s activities kicked off early in Davao City, where a motorcade departed from Freedom Park along Roxas Street at dawn.
Hundreds of participants assembled between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., wearing green and displaying ribbons as part of the campaign dubbed “Tie Green Ribbons: Tie the Knot of Hope.”
Organizers said the initiative sought to symbolize solidarity among Filipinos from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, emphasizing unity and resilience amid national challenges. Vehicles joined the convoy bearing green accents, while supporters along the route waved ribbons and flags in support.
The organizers also encouraged Filipinos nationwide to participate by tying green ribbons in visible places, wearing green throughout the day, and sharing messages of hope on social media.
The movement’s message framed March 1 as “a declaration of faith in our future,” calling on citizens to express unity through simple, visible acts.
Hashtags circulating online included #GreenRiseActionAndHopeFor2028, #TapangAtMalasakit, and #PresidentSaraDuterte, reflecting the political undertones of the gathering and its forward-looking focus toward the 2028 elections, with supporters expressing backing for VP Sara Duterte.
Organizers said similar ribbon-tying and solidarity activities were expected in various cities and towns throughout the day, underscoring what they described as a growing grassroots movement centered on hope, unity, and national resolve.
Previously, Vice President Sara Duterte formally announced his intention to run for the 2028 presidency amid the four impeachment complaints filed against her for alleged corruption and abuse of authority.
