DEFENSE Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. visited the headquarters of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. on Dec. 17, 2025, to reaffirm the government’s commitment to modernization and territorial defense.
Major General Alvin Luzon, Commander of the 10ID, led the warm welcome for the defense secretary. He was joined by Major General Adonis Ariel Orio, commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), and other key military leaders.
During his address to the troops, Teodoro emphasized that the Department of National Defense is maximizing all resources to strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Operations.
He noted that the AFP is preparing for expanded roles in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty against both internal and external security threats.
Moreover, Teodoro underscored ongoing efforts to enhance the AFP’s arsenal through direct and joint investment programs, while also prioritizing mental wellness initiatives, combat engineering capabilities to support major military infrastructure development, and, most notably, increased funding for information and connectivity systems.
In a personal message to the Agila troopers, the defense secretary acknowledged the sacrifices of the soldiers and their families.
“Please be careful and take care of yourselves. I also thank your families for their continued support of your service. Rest assured, I will uphold the dignity of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and I will never compromise the territory and sovereignty of the State,” Teodoro said.
Meanwhile, Teodoro lauded the 10th Infantry Division for its notable accomplishments, as highlighted by Maj. Gen. Luzon during a comprehensive briefing.
He noted that the Division is engaged in External Security Operations (ESO) in support of Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Operations, while sustaining the hard-fought gains in Internal Security Operations (ISO).
The defense chief commended the soldiers for their dedication and professionalism, emphasizing that their efforts strengthen stability in their area of responsibility and contribute to the broader national defense strategy.
He further highlighted that such exemplary performance reflects the AFP’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.
Teodoro also recognized the continued dedication of AFP units in the Eastern Mindanao Region for protecting and securing their respective joint operational areas.
