AN ESTIMATED 70,800 Muslim faithful gathered at Freedom Park along Roxas Avenue on Saturday, March 21, for a solemn Eid al-Fitr congressional prayer, marked by heavy security and a high-profile show of solidarity from local law enforcement.
Col Mannan Caracas Muarip, acting city director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), stood alongside the Muslim Ummah during the prayers, which celebrate the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
“Eid al-Fitr is not only a celebration of faith and gratitude but also a profound expression of unity, compassion, and shared humanity among our communities,” Muarip said.
To manage the massive crowd, the DCPO deployed a full contingent of police personnel throughout the Roxas Avenue area.
The security measure ensured the environment remained peaceful, allowing the community to observe their prayers with solemnity and without concern.
Muarip reaffirmed the DCPO’s commitment to building a harmonious city that embraces different traditions as the 2026 Eid celebration concluded without major incident.
