JOINT security forces intercepted two high-value drug personalities and seized over ₱303,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs during a routine inspection at a fixed border control checkpoint in Bunawan District on Aug. 13.
Operatives from the Bunawan Police Station (PS6), led by PMAJ Janus Lumbaya Macli-ing, in coordination with Task Force Davao, conducted the joint interdiction operation at around 4 p.m. in Barangay Mahayag.
Authorities reported that the two suspects, both classified as High-Value Individuals (HVIs) in the regional drug watch list, were flagged down for routine security screening upon entry into the city.
During the inspection, law enforcers spotted illegal drugs in plain view inside the suspects’ possession, leading to their immediate arrest in flagrante delicto.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of several sachets of suspected shabu (Methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated value of ₱303,960.
DCPO director PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria commended the joint personnel of PS6 and Task Force Davao for their vigilance in securing the city’s entry points.
Madria reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to tightening border security and intensifying anti-illegal drug operations across Metro Davao, urging residents to remain cooperative with checkpoint procedures to maintain peace and order.
The arrested suspects are currently under police custody at PS6 – Bunawan and are facing formal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
