MANILA — AirAsia MOVE (MOVE), Asia’s best travel booking app, has been accredited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the Philippines, strengthening its airline partnerships and giving Filipino and international travelers more choice when flying to and from the Philippines, while supporting greater connectivity to destinations worldwide.
The milestone reflects MOVE’s continued evolution into a platform that brings every part of the journey together, connecting travelers to a growing network of airlines and travel products and services through one app. Today, MOVE offers access to more than 700 airlines to 3,000 destinations worldwide, including direct partnerships with global carriers such as Etihad Airways, ANA, VietJet, among others. Beyond flights, MOVE also offers more than one million hotels, live events, attractions, and other travel services, all in one app.
For Philippine tourism, the growing presence of OTAs, such as MOVE, creates more opportunities for airlines, travel businesses, and tourism partners to connect with travelers through technology, expanded distribution, and a more seamless booking experience.
“Our IATA accreditation is already opening new doors for MOVE. Within the first few weeks, around 30 international airlines serving routes to and from the Philippines have granted us ticketing authority,” said Malou Japson, Country Head for MOVE Philippines.
“Travel is an ecosystem, and no single player can thrive in isolation. Our growing engagement with both local and global tourism and aviation organizations strengthens our ability to collaborate, build meaningful partnerships, and contribute to conversations shaping the future of travel in the Philippines. We see a strong opportunity for MOVE to take a more active role in connecting Filipinos to the world, while helping position the Philippines as a more accessible and compelling destination for international travelers. Ultimately, our goal is not simply to facilitate travel, but to help build stronger connections across the entire travel ecosystem.”
The accreditation also builds on MOVE’s growing engagement with the travel and tourism industry. Earlier this year, MOVE also became a member of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) and Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), further strengthening its ties with the local travel community. MOVE has also been strengthening its collaboration with the Department of Tourism through the “Discover More to Love” campaign, aimed at boosting domestic travel.
As MOVE continues to expand its airline partnerships and travel products and services, it remains committed to connecting more travelers with destinations and experiences in the Philippines, in ASEAN, and around the world.

AirAsia Philippines Ranks No. 1 Among the World’s Most Punctual Low-Cost Airlines in July 2026
MANILA — AirAsia Philippines has achieved a new milestone after being ranked the world’s most punctual low-cost airline in July 2026, according to the latest On-Time Performance (OTP) report by OAG, a global air travel data provider.
The airline posted a 94.42% OTP, ranking first among 46 low-cost airlines worldwide monitored by OAG for the month.
In OAG’s All Airlines category, which covers carriers operating more than 1,500 flights during the month, AirAsia Philippines also landed the second spot globally, underscoring its reliability alongside full-service and low-cost airlines alike.
The achievement follows AirAsia Philippines’ strong performance in June 2026, when it recorded a 92.96% OTP and ranked fourth globally, reflecting the airline’s sustained operational excellence and continuous improvement.
“While the global geopolitical crisis and elevated fuel prices have pushed us to make difficult decisions and operational adjustments, our move to optimize our fleet is now yielding tangible benefits. It enabled us to plan our flights, fuel consumption, and manage our slot compliance in close coordination with Air Traffic Control. These measures help us minimize disruptions while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations across its network,” said AirAsia Philippines president and CEO Anna Victoria Lu.
AirAsia Philippines continues to strengthen the operational capacity that drives high on-time performance. It also issues timely passenger advisories and maintains close coordination with Air Traffic Services and airport authorities to ensure efficient operational management.
Despite weather-related disruptions throughout July, the airline improved its on-time performance to 94.42%, up from 87.1% in May, demonstrating the effectiveness of its operational discipline to manage aircraft turnaround time.
“Maintaining strong on-time performance requires constant focus, especially in an operating environment where weather and other external factors can change quickly. But we know our guests rely on us for safe, affordable, and reliable air travel, so we continue to work even harder to deliver that. We have strengthened the way we operate to ensure we can continue serving our guests today and well into the future. Even with a low-cost model, this milestone only proves that affordable fares never come at the expense of operational reliability.” Lu added.
What if you bring more? AirAsia Philippines lets you check in as many bags as you need
MANILA, Philippines — As more travelers return home with extra pasalubong, souvenirs, and shopping finds, AirAsia Philippines is reminding guests that they can check in as many bags as they need, with no limit on the number of checked bags, as long as the total weight remains within their purchased or complimentary baggage allowance.
Guests may buy checked baggage allowances ranging from 20kg to 60kg, providing flexibility for both short getaways and extended trips. For safety reasons, however, each individual checked bag must not exceed 32kg, even if a higher baggage allowance has been purchased.
However, if you have purchased more than 30 kg of baggage allowance, please note that each bag you will be checking-in must follow the following requirements:
Several essential mobility items may be checked in free of charge, including:
- Baby strollers, buggies, and prams
- Wheelchairs and mobility devices
- Crutches and walking frames
Pre-booked to avoid other fees
Guests who purchase checked baggage before departure can save up to Php 919 compared to airport rates. Checked baggage can be purchased conveniently via the AirAsia MOVE app, the AirAsia website, or Ask Bo.
Buying additional baggage after booking
Guests who wish to add or upgrade their checked baggage allowance after completing their booking may conveniently do so through the Manage My Booking feature or by chatting with Ask Bo up to two hours before their scheduled departure. Checked baggage may also be added at the airport check-in counter, subject to applicable airport baggage rates.
To purchase or upgrade checked baggage through Ask Bo:
- Chat with Ask Bo on the AirAsia MOVE app or website.
- Type “Purchase Add-ons (Seats, Baggage, Meals)”.
- Select “Baggage” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase.
Cabin baggage
For cabin baggage, guests are entitled to two carry-on items—one cabin bag and one personal item like a laptop bag or a hand bag—with a combined weight of up to 7kg. Those who need additional cabin space may opt for Xtra Carry-On, which increases the cabin baggage allowance to 14kg when pre-booked.
As travelers continue to embrace spontaneous shopping, longer vacations, and meaningful trips home, AirAsia Philippines’ flexible baggage policy ensures guests can bring home more of what matters—without worrying about the number of bags they check in.
MANILA, Philippines — AirAsia Philippines has been recognized as the 4th most punctual airline in the world, posting an impressive 92.96% on-time performance (OTP) for June 2026, according to global aviation data provider OAG Aviation.
“Beyond offering affordable and accessible fares, reliability has always been at the core of AirAsia’s DNA. Despite the challenges faced by the aviation industry in the first half of the year, we’re proud of the operational progress we’ve made while continuing to provide safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.

“Our next priority is to stabilize operations so our guests and stakeholders can count on our continued commitment to rebuilding travel confidence and bringing more people back to the skies, safely and on time,” said AirAsia Philippines president and general manager Anna Victoria Lu.
AirAsia Philippines’ strong on-time performance is driven by strategic operational planning and seamless coordination across the airline, including maintaining aircraft availability, proactive maintenance, efficient flight dispatch and turnaround processes, proper crew scheduling, close coordination with airport and air traffic control, continuous weather monitoring, and real-time decision-making that enable teams to respond quickly to operational challenges while ensuring safe and reliable flights for guests.
AirAsia Philippines recorded an on-time performance (OTP) of 92.96% in June from 87% in May.
The AirAsia Group also landed in 10th place among the world’s best-performing large airlines for on-time performance, recording an 83.02% OTP across 14,502 flights
