THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) and top management of SM Lanang signed a strategic partnership to curb shoplifting and seasonal property crimes.
DCPO director PCOL Peter B. Madria finalized the security arrangement on Thursday morning, July 9, in a meeting with SM Lanang Mall manager Kimberly Ann Remolona at the police headquarters on San Pedro Street.
The security alliance shifts DCPO’s commercial policing approach toward a more aggressive, intelligence-led framework.
Under the setup, the DCPO and corporate security teams will implement real-time communication channels designed to intercept organized shoplifting rings and petty thieves before they exit the mall premises.
“Ensuring the safety of our major commercial centers requires an active, seamless link between our tactical units and private security forces,” Madria said, emphasizing that proactive deterrents protect not only businesses but thousands of daily patrons and workers.
On top of surveillance and patrol deployments, DCPO and SM Lanang management agreed to launch joint crime-prevention campaigns.
The police will conduct specialized tactical lectures and anti-crime orientations for mall personnel, security guards, and tenant staff to sharpen their capacity to detect suspicious behavior and handle security emergencies.
The collaboration comes as the city police force intensifies its visible policing strategy across major business districts to maintain economic stability and public order.
