AUTHORITIES arrested a regional-level high-value target and seized an estimated P170,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Purok Leo, Barangay Lasang, at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night, April 9.
The suspect, identified by the alias Bebot, 36, a resident of Tagum City, was listed as a top-priority personality in the regional illegal drug trade.
The Davao City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the City Special Operations Group (CSOG), under the leadership of PMAJ Bernie B. Suaga, conducted the buy-bust.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Col Peter B. Madria said the arrest was a significant blow to the local drug supply chain.
“By removing a key drug personality from the streets, the DCPO disrupts the supply of illegal drugs and protects families from the destructive impact of substance abuse,” he said.
Officials credited the success of the raid to intelligence-driven policing and active community reports. The operation is part of an intensified campaign by the DCPO to secure the city against “high-value” distributors who operate across municipal borders.
The suspect is currently in police custody and faces a charge for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
