- OVP modifies ‘Libreng Sakay’ in Davao City
THE OFFICE of the Vice President (OVP) on Monday announced adjustments to its Libreng Sakay bus routes to better serve commuters along some of the busiest roads in Davao City.
The change was made following a recent internal review that showed a decline in the number of daily passengers using the present routes.
The same study also revealed that shifting to a new route would benefit more commuters, particularly those who lack sufficient access to public transport options.
Starting Sept. 1, 2025, the Lasang–Roxas Avenue route will be changed to Cabantian–Roxas Avenue. There will no longer be trips to Lasang.
All trips will start in front of Ateneo de Davao University along Roxas Avenue.
For Cabantian, the pick-up and drop-off point will be in front of Indangan City Mall.
For Toril, the stop will remain at the District Hall, while in Calinan, passengers may board in front of the Shell Gasoline Station along the highway.
The Libreng Sakay bus operates in Davao City from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
The OVP emphasized that the route modification aims to maximize the program’s impact by accommodating more passengers and easing congestion in underserved areas of the city.
