THE OFFICE of Public Counsel for Victims (OPCV) has filed its observations before the International Criminal Court (ICC), seeking a more defined role as legal representatives for the upcoming confirmation of charges hearing for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In the official submission, Principal Counsel Paolina Massidda made a formal request for victims’ legal representatives to be granted significant time to present their case.
Specifically, Massidda has asked the ICC to allocate 30 minutes for each representative to deliver opening and closing statements.
The filing further requested two hours for representatives to present arguments on the merits of the case and detail the extent of the victimization suffered by their clients.
The confirmation of charges hearing is scheduled to be held on Sept. 22, 24, 25, and 26.
For public access, the proceedings will be available to watch on-site at the ICC.
Additionally, a live online broadcast with a 30-minute delay will be provided to ensure wider public viewing.
