THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) is always ready for any simulation exercise, even after a recent nationwide quick-response demonstration was disrupted by a power outage in Davao Oriental.
During a press briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon told reporters that the DCPO was not included in the recent demonstration by Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicholas Torre III.
However, the spokesperson emphasized that the city’s police force is always prepared.
“The DCPO was not included, but if it had been, our DCPO patrollers and mobile patrol cars would have been quick because we actually conduct simulation exercises at any time of the day,” the spokesperson said. “So it would not be new to us if our PNP Chief gave us a scenario.”
The spokesperson was responding to a question about why the DCPO was not part of the PNP’s five-minute response demonstration for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. The demonstration, which took place on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, was cut short by a sudden power outage in Davao Oriental, interrupting the live call to the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office.
“We had planned yesterday in case the Davao City Police Office was chosen to prepare for a SIMEX [simulation exercise], but the DCPO was not drawn or chosen,” the spokesperson explained. “But the Davao City Police Office is very ready to perform any scenario for the simulation exercise.”
The police demonstration, which included PNP Chief Gen. Nicholas Torre III and DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, was meant to showcase the police’s ability to respond quickly to a call.
