QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Heart Association (PHA) celebrated World Heart Day 2025 with the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat: Galaw-Galaw, Pilipinas!”, held at the Barangay Bagong Pag-asa Multipurpose Hall in Quezon City.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks from Dr. Walid Amil, president of the Philippine Heart Association, followed by a message from Dr. Richard Henry Tiongco II, secretary of the Philippine Heart Association. Both leaders emphasized the importance of collective action in building a heart-healthy nation and encouraged communities to continue advocating for active living and wellness.

The event aimed to raise awareness on the importance of heart health by promoting movement, proper nutrition, and preventive care. Participants enjoyed a series of engaging activities, including lecture talks, CPR demonstrations, a Zumba session, and a jingle-making contest — all designed to inspire Filipinos to live an active and heart-healthy lifestyle.

“Ang una nating layunin dito is to remind the community of the importance of taking care of our heart and how to prevent having heart disease,” said Amil.

Del Monte Philippines set up a wellness booth offering free samples of Del Monte Heart Smart Pineapple Juice, along with lipid screening, blood pressure (BP) checks, and nutrition counseling for patients. The booth provided practical ways to understand and care for their heart health through good nutrition and regular monitoring.

“Ang Philippine Heart Association ay nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga iba’t ibang ahensya para sa mga clinical practice guidelines para sa altapresyon, cholesterol, active lifestyle at iba pang mga layunin para mapatunayan natin na kailangan natin mag-improve sa ating bansa para sa kalusugan,” emphasized Tiongco.

Through these efforts, the event highlighted that maintaining a healthy heart begins with small, consistent choices and staying active, eating nutritious food, and getting regular health checkups.

The Philippine Heart Association remains steadfast in its mission to champion cardiovascular health and empower Filipinos to take every step toward a stronger, healthier heart, one beat at a time.
