THE DAVAO City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) ramped up its campaign against aggressive and delinquent motorists, apprehending 35 violators during a three-hour “Oplan Kalsada” operation on Monday afternoon.

The road-clearing operation specifically targeted unroadworthy vehicles and those with illegal modifications, such as bora-bora or open mufflers, which violate City Ordinance 0334-12 and Republic Act 4136, according to the Davao City police office spokesperson, Captain Hazel Caballero.

Under the supervision of TEU chief Lt Col Christian Antonio Garcia, personnel led by PSSG Nies carried out the sweep from 4 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. across various areas of responsibility in the city.

The operation resulted in the issuance of 35 citation tickets for various infractions, including violations of the Motorcycle Helmet Act (RA 10054) and other local traffic ordinances.

“The operation is part of our continuing effort to ensure road safety and address public complaints regarding noisy, modified exhausts and unroadworthy vehicles,” the TEU report stated.

All issued citation tickets have been turned over to the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) for proper disposition and the assessment of fines.
