VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte dismissed calls for her resignation and reaffirmed her determination to run in the 2028 national elections, framing the upcoming impeachment proceedings as a chance to address public scrutiny.
“No, no, no. I will not resign. I will never resign from the Office of the Vice President,” Duterte declared during a media interview on the sidelines of the 52nd Philippine Business Conference and Expo held at the Manila Hotel on Oct. 13, 2026.
When asked if her resolve to seek higher office in 2028 remains intact, the Vice President confirmed her plans, describing the impeachment trial as an avenue for transparency regarding her character.
“In one way, nakikita ko as a blessing ‘yung impeachment trial dahil diyan ay makikilatis at ma-scrutinize na ng mga tao ‘yung mga katanungan nila sa pagkatao ko,” Duterte stated.
Duterte, who served as the guest of honor at the annual business gathering, also expressed gratitude to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) for its continued engagement and support since she took office.
“At nagpapasalamat ako sa Philippine Chamber dahil simula 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, hanggang ngayon ay iniimbita pa rin nila ako at nakikinig pa rin sila,” she added.
