THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) issued a public safety and health advisory on Monday, urging residents, tourists, and festival-goers to observe strict security protocols during the 41st Kadayawan Festival from Aug. 7 to 31, 2026.
DCPO director PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria emphasized that public cooperation is essential for ensuring smooth security operations and keeping official event venues safe and orderly throughout the festivities.
“Safety is a shared responsibility. By observing these guidelines in every activity and respecting one another, we can all enjoy a peaceful and memorable Kadayawan,” Madria said.
To streamline security checks at entry points and event zones, police advised the public to adhere to the following security protocols:
- Bag Restrictions: Refrain from bringing large backpacks or heavy bags to festival venues.
- Inspection Protocol: Remove jackets, hooded sweaters, and sunglasses when passing through security checkpoints.
- Prohibited Items: Firearms, sharp or pointed objects, laser lights, and unauthorized drones (except those with official security clearance) are strictly banned.
- Ordinance Enforcement: Public smoking, vaping, and consuming alcoholic beverages within designated festival zones are strictly prohibited under city ordinances.
- Zero-Tolerance Policy: Making bomb jokes or false threat-related comments anywhere in public is illegal and will be met with immediate criminal prosecution under Presidential Decree No. 1727.
- Child Safety: Parents and guardians are strongly advised against bringing infants and small children into densely crowded event areas.
Health & safety reminders
In anticipation of large crowds and warm weather during outdoor events, law enforcement also released health precautions for spectators:
- Carry drinking water exclusively in transparent tumblers.
- Bring protection against heat, such as hats, fans, and sunblock, and seek shaded areas when possible.
- Carry light snacks (such as candies or crackers) and extra shirts.
- Always utilize designated pedestrian crosswalks and follow local traffic direction.
DCPO personnel, alongside augmented security units, will be deployed across major festival sites, parade routes, and transportation hubs throughout August to ensure public safety.
