THE NGILNGIG Asian Fantastic Film Festival (NgAFFF) returns to Davao City in its 10th edition, bringing in 50 short films and five feature movies from across the Philippines and Asia to celebrate fantastic storytelling and extraordinary cinema, which will run from Oct. 24 to 28 at Cinematheque Centre Davao.
This year’s festival will feature new works of Filipino filmmakers representing communities from different regions in the Philippines as well as from Asian countries, namely Cambodia, Nepal, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
The lineup offers diverse and unique perspectives on fantastic filmmaking that are shaped by cultural experiences and creative visions.
Five full-length films will premiere in Davao City, presenting a selection of contemporary Asian cinema.
These are “I Grew an Inch When My Father Died,” produced by a filmmaker in Leyte; “Sasyq (Stinker),” a debut feature from Kazakhstan; Vietnam’s “Antithesis of Gemini;” the Japan-Taiwan production film “The Curse;” and the Cinemalaya 2026 award-winning “Mag-iina (Mothering).“
Now themed “Metamorphosis,” it explores transformation through shifting identities, alternate realities, evolving culture, perspective, and cinematic expression.
It also marks a decade-long celebration of cross-cultural changes and Asia’s rich tradition of screenwriting inspired by horror, superstitions, beliefs, myth, and legends.
During a media conference on Sunday, Oct. 11, NgAFF unveiled its new poster that is in line with the theme.
Workshops will also be held at the Green House Cinema during the festival, along with a reception and awarding event on the last day at The Commons in Matina Town Square (MTS).
NgAFFF 2026 is organized by Pasalidahay Inc., in partnership with the Japan Foundation, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Film Academy of the Philippines, Sony, Aputure, and the Davao City Office for Culture and the Arts.
