MAJOR General Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, officially welcomed home the troops of the 28th Infantry Battalion in a homecoming ceremony held in Barangay Poblacion, Magpet, Cotabato, following their successful electoral security deployment.
The 28IB units returned from a mission in Lanao del Sur, where they served under the operational control of the 101st Infantry Brigade and Joint Task Force “Zampelan” to safeguard the Sept. 14 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections.
Tasked with securing polling centers, vital facilities, and critical installations, the battalion played a pivotal role in ensuring a peaceful and orderly democratic exercise.
During the ceremony, ten personnel—comprising five officers and five enlisted troops—were awarded the Military Merit Medal in recognition of their exceptional service and dedication.
Joined by BGEN Apollo Jun Lamaton, commander of the 1002nd Infantry Brigade, Luzon praised the returning soldiers for displaying high levels of discipline and professionalism, while also thanking their families for their steadfast support.
“You have done your duty and represented the Agila Division with honor. Today, the Agila family is proud to have you back,” Luzon stated, encouraging the troops to continue embodying the division’s core values of accountability, growth, integrity, loyalty, and excellence.
