THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) leadership and four of its personnel were conferred with the Medalya ng Kadakilaan (Medal of Gallantry) on Monday, Oct. 5, in recognition of a high-stakes anti-illegal drug operation that led to the seizure of over ₱2.3 million worth of shabu.
Leading the awardees was DCPO City Director PCOL Peter B. Madria, alongside PMAJ Bernie B. Suaga, chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU); PCMS Erwin G. Gino; PSSG Junilzar L. Gualdahara; and PCPL Aldreine Joseph A. Gadiano.
The honors were officially presented during the Monday flag-raising ceremony at the Police Regional Office (PRO) XI parade grounds, Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin District.
The commendation stemmed from a successful joint drug buy-bust operation conducted on Sept. 25, in Barangay 19-B, Davao City.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a High-Value Individual (HVI) and recidivist identified as alias Tiyon who faces charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Confiscated during the raid were transparent sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) weighing 344.40 grams, with an estimated standard drug price of ₱2,341,964.
PRO XI Regional Director PBGen. Benigno L. Guzman praised the team’s operational triumph, emphasizing the professionalism and steadfast dedication driving the region’s security forces.
“These recognitions reflect the dedication and professionalism of our police officers in both operational achievements and community engagement,” PBGen. Guzman said.
Echoing the sentiment, PCol. Madria stressed that the award underscores the police force’s aggressive stance against narcotics while reinforcing community trust.
“The success of DCPO in its anti-drug operations demonstrates our relentless pursuit of justice and our unwavering stand against illegal drugs. Beyond enforcement, we must continue to build trust with the community, strengthen preventive measures, and uphold accountability at all levels of service,” PCol. Madria stated.
