₱201-K in shabu, revolver seized in Davao City drug bust

POLICE seized over ₱200,000 worth of suspected shabu and a handgun following a buy-bust operation at 3:05 p.m. in Sta. Ana on Wednesday, July 8.

​According to Police Station 1, under acting station commander PMAJ Marc Hedssel M. Culaste, the sting operation resulted in the arrest of suspected drug peddlers. Confiscated during the operation were suspected Methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with an estimated street value of ₱201,280, alongside a .357-caliber revolver.

​Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria commended the Sta. Ana police personnel for the operation, attributing the success to tightened coordination between local law enforcement, barangay officials, the Davao City local government, and community informants.

​The suspects are currently in police custody and face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. 9165) and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (R.A. 10591).

PNP recovers 6 more firearms from Senator Bato Dela Rosa as weapons tally hits 26

THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) has taken custody of six additional firearms voluntarily turned over by Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa following the revocation of his gun licenses.

The latest turnover, which took place on Sunday, June 22, was executed by personnel from the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and the Regional Civil Security Unit 4A. 

The firearms were received from the senator’s legal representative at his residence in Silang, Cavite, for temporary safekeeping.

With this latest development, the total number of firearms surrendered in Dela Rosa’s name stands at 26, following an initial turnover of 20 weapons on June 11. 

The PNP FEO previously issued a cancellation order covering a total of 117 firearms registered under the senator’s name, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

According to the PNP, the continuous enforcement of the revocation order is part of its mandate to implement firearms laws impartially.

PNP Director General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that the organization remains guided by professionalism and the rule of law throughout the process.  

“The Philippine National Police remains committed to carrying out its mandate in accordance with the law and established procedures,” Nartatez said in a statement. “We will continue to perform our duties professionally, fairly, and with respect for the legal rights of everyone involved.”

The remaining 91 firearms covered by the cancellation order have yet to be accounted for as police coordination with Dela Rosa’s legal team continues.

DCPO chief, operatives honored with ‘Medalya ng Kadakilaan after crushing ₱15.6-M drug ring

FIVE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel, led by city director Col Peter Bauzon Madria, received the prestigious Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Heroism Medal) on Monday over a sting operation that seized ₱15.6 million worth of illegal drugs.

Police Regional Office (PRO) XI regional director BGen Leon Victor Z. Rosete handed the awards during a short ceremony at Camp Quintin M. Merecido parade grounds in Buhangin on May 25.

The highest commendation stemmed from a high-stakes tactical operation on May 14, 2026, which led to the arrest of a high-value suspect, identified as alias Bai. 

The sting operation resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs valued at ₱15,640,000 under current Dangerous Drugs Board guidelines, alongside a serial-less .356 revolver and live ammunition.

Aside from Madria, the heroism medal was conferred upon Maj Harold S. Untalan, PSSg Rey Almerez Manligoy, Cpl Stephen Louie P. Bancua, and Patrolman Jake Michael Z. Permito.

According to regional leadership, the awards highlight the unit’s swift enforcement of Republic Act 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

“This recognition serves as a testament to the relentless pursuit of peace and security by the Davao City Police Office,” the DCPO said in a statement, adding that the commendation underscores the teamwork, professionalism, and high standards maintained by the local force to protect Davaoeños.

Joint police operation yields over ₱1.2-M in illicit cigarettes in Davao del Sur

THE POLICE Regional  Office XI seized over ₱1.25 million worth of smuggled cigarettes and arrested a “big-time” suspect during an operation in Barangay Camanchiles, Matanao, Davao del Sur, on Wednesday evening, April 22.

The Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) XI and the Matanao Municipal Police Station launched the joint operation that led to the confiscation of 25 master cases and 39 individual packs of assorted illicit cigarettes. The total market value of the haul was estimated to be ₱1,253,900.

According to PRO XI, the discovery was a result of proactive surveillance. Operatives were originally investigating potential violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) when they uncovered the smuggling activity.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Matanao Municipal Police Station, facing a formal charge of economic sabotage and illegal trade being prepared.

PRO XI regional director BGen Leon Victor Z. Rosete said, “Operations like this send a strong message that illegal trade will not be tolerated in our communities. Your pulis Dabawenyo will continue to protect the public and support government efforts in curbing economic sabotage.”

DCPO nabbed top fugitive for drugs, illegal firearms

AUTHORITIES nabbed the so-called “top 1 city-level most wanted person” in a joint operation along San Pedro Street, Barangay 38-D, at around 6:35 p.m. on Friday, March 6.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) acting director Col. Mannan C. Muarip identified the suspect as alias Sammy, 47, a businessman and resident of Buhangin Proper.

Aside from being number one on the city’s list, Muarip said Sammy was also listed as the “top 9 most wanted person at the regional level under the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

The City Special Operations Group (CSOG) and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), under Lt Col. Randy P. Sambalod, led the operation that arrested the suspect.

Muarip, for his part, praised the dedication and professionalism of the operatives who gained another win in the DCPO’s campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms.

‘Top 9’ wanted man arrested after Toril gunfight wounds officer

A MANHUNT for one of the region’s most wanted individuals turned into a bloody confrontation Saturday afternoon, leaving a police officer wounded and the suspect in custody following a shootout in Barangay Sibulan, Toril District.

The suspect, identified by police only as alias Keir, 34, was ranked as the ninth most wanted person at the regional level and was a primary target under “Coplan Abdul.”

At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 14, the joint task force, led by Major Fil Anthony D. Manlatican, alongside units from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Regional Intelligence Division, served the warrant of arrest at the suspect’s residence in Purok 3.

The warrant, issued by Judge Cherry Lynn M. Trinidad-Geocaniga of RTC Branch 9, was for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

According to the initial investigation, as Cpl Elton John Mamac and PCpl Jonathan Mangano approached to effect the arrest, Keir allegedly drew a handgun and opened fire on the officers.

Mamac sustained a gunshot wound to the rib area during the initial volley. In response, Mangano returned fire and wounded Keir before the suspect attempted to flee.

The pursuit ended shortly after when the suspect was stopped at the CAA detachment in Barangay Sibulan, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Authorities recovered a .45 caliber STI pistol (Serial No. 914421) loaded with six live rounds at the scene.

Mamac was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center by barangay responders. Meanwhile, the suspect was transported to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City, where he remains under heavy guard by personnel from the Toril Police Station and RMFB XI.

DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Caballero confirmed that the warrant was officially served to the suspect while at the hospital.

DCPO arrests ‘high-value’ suspect; ₱95-K in shabu and firearm seized

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and recovered nearly ₱100,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust on Jan. 5, along Soliman Street, Barangay Tomas Monteverde, Agdao District 

The suspect, identified only by the alias Marvin, was apprehended by the City Special Operations Group (CSOG) and the City Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) in a coordinated strike led by Lt. Col. Randy Sambalod.

During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered suspected drugs with an estimated street value of ₱95,200 and a .38 caliber revolver.

“This significant accomplishment is a clear manifestation of our steadfast commitment,” DCPO acting chief Col Mannan Muarip said in a statement. “Order was reinforced by removing a high-value drug personality, dangerous illegal drugs, and an unlicensed firearm from our community.” 

The suspect is currently in police custody and will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

  • Patrolman, security manager nabbed for selling high-powered firearms

A POLICE sting ensnared a patrolman and his civilian accomplice along Roxas Avenue, in front of a prominent University, early Monday, Oct. 13. 

The operation, conducted at approximately 4:50 a.m., targeted the illicit sale of high-powered firearms in violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The Davao City Police Office only identified the arrested individuals as Louie, a manager of a security agency and resident of Prudential Village, Daliao, Toril; and Muhammad, a Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel assigned to Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, and a resident of Sirawan, Toril.

The City Intelligence Team-RID XI, Police Station 1 (Sta. Ana), Regional Special Operations Group /RPDEU XI, and other intelligence units under the direction of Col Melvin Montante, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division XI, launched the operation.

According to the report, a police undercover agent purchased the firearms from the suspects during the buy-bust. Authorities recovered an array of weapons and materiel, including the following:

  • Two M4 assault rifles (Colt Defense and Bushmaster models)
  • One 9mm Pietro Beretta pistol (identified as PNP property)
  • Two (2) Caliber .45 pistols (Colt and Limcat models)
  • Assorted magazines and live ammunition for the confiscated weapons.

They also impounded the Toyota Vios (dark brown, plate number AHA 4983) used in the transaction.

The suspects, along with the seized firearms and other pieces of evidence, are now in police custody.

Warrant yields P340-K in shabu

AUTHORITIES arrested a top six city-level high-value individual and seized P340,000 worth of illegal drugs in a successful police operation around 10:30 a.m. in Barangay Ma-a, Talomo District on Saturday morning, Oct. 11. 

According to the report, alias Jong-Jong, a 35-year-old married man, a resident of Purok 13, Bugac, also yielded a firearm.

He was arrested for violations of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The Ma-a Police Station (PS16), led by station commander Major Philip Dave Uddin, implemented Search Warrant No. 2579, signed by Regional Trial Court XI Executive Judge Rowena M Apao-Adlawan.

Authorities seized from the suspect five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with an estimated total weight of 50 grams.

They also confiscated a Caliber .45 ACP Forjas Taurus Model pistol, a magazine, and three pieces of live ammunition from the businessman.

The suspect is now under police custody pending the filing of cases.
