THE 10TH Infantry Division conducted a three-day combat medical training at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. to bolster its personnel’s lifesaving capabilities for territorial defense and emergency response operations.
The training, held from Oct. 29 to 31, focused on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA). It was organized by the 10th Station Hospital (10SH) and facilitated by six instructors from the Philippine Navy Nursing Service.
Troops from the 10ID’s Emergency Response Company, Division Reconnaissance Company, Headquarters Service Company, and 10SH underwent intensive lectures, practical exercises, and demonstrations.
Key modules included cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) operation, bleeding control, and wound management.
Military officials said the training directly supports 10ID’s preparations for upcoming simulated Inter-Agency Territorial Defense and Civil Defense Exercises.
During these scenarios, humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) capabilities are vital in addressing security crises and natural emergencies.
10ID Commander Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon emphasized that operational readiness must go hand-in-hand with medical emergency capabilities.
“Territorial defense readiness goes beyond our ability to respond to security threats,” Luzon said. “It also requires our troops to be prepared to protect lives, provide immediate assistance, and work alongside our civilian and inter-agency partners during emergencies.”
He added that building strong lifesaving skills is essential for fulfilling the division’s external security operations while strengthening overall defense and civil preparedness in the region.
