THE BANKO Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) recognized six institutional partners for their financial inclusion initiatives, impactful digital payments, and contributing to the growth of Mindanao during the Outstanding BSP Stakeholders Appreciation Ceremony (OBSAC) on Monday morning, Sept 28, 2026.
This year’s ceremony was attended by Monetary Board Member Romeo Bernardo and BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat who thanked the partners for their contributions to BSP’s advocacies and turning policies and programs into practical solutions.
Stakeholders honored at the event were East West Banking Corporation – Cagayan de Oro, LANDBANK of the Philippines – Cash Operations Unit Davao, LANDBANK of the Philippines – Cotabato Branch, Regional Development Council – Caraga, Bangsamoro Information Office, and the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.
The annual OBSAC, launched in 2004, serves as a platform to recognize BSP’s outstanding partners for supporting its mandates of promoting safe and efficient payments and settlement systems as well as financial and price stability.
Awardees are evaluated for their excellence in key areas of currency management, digitalization, financial inclusion, and advocacy support.
During a presentation, Davao Region has the most number of banking offices with a total of 546, and the most number of money service businesses (MSBS) at 224 in 2025 among the six regions in Mindanao.
The region also recorded a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of P1.14 trillion at constant 2018 prices that grew to 5.1% in 2025 which remained Mindanao’s largest economy.
As of August 2026, the inflation rate of Zamboanga is at 7.6%, Northern Mindanao at 6.5%, Davao Region at 8.9%, Soccsksargen at 7.6%, Caraga also at 8.9%, and BARMM at 8.8%.
