THE LOCAL safety and security cluster officially launched its field deployment on Monday afternoon following a formal send-off ceremony at the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) parade grounds ahead of the 2026 Kadayawan Festival opening this Friday, August 7.
Led by DCPO director PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria, alongside Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) head Angel Sumagaysay, the Aug. 3 ceremonial send-off formally activated the multi-agency force tasked with securing the city’s premier cultural event.
Building on earlier security announcements, law enforcement leadership emphasized that the primary objective for the entire duration of the festival is to maintain strict operational readiness and achieve zero crime incidents across all official venues and public gatherings.
“The send-off ceremony set the tone for a harmonious and joyful celebration,” the DCPO said, reaffirming its commitment to protecting both local residents and visiting tourists.
The security contingent—comprising police officers, military units, traffic managers, and emergency response teams—will begin immediate static and mobile saturation, starting with the official festival opening on Friday, August 7, at 6 p.m. in Magsaysay Park.
