PERSONNEL from Police Station 3 (Talomo) arrested two suspects who were allegedly caught in the act of pilfering a car battery in the early hours of Tuesday, March 10.
At approximately 2 a.m., Mobile Patrol 916—led by PSSg Pongase and PCpl Tauro, alongside Police Safety and Security Auxiliary (PSSA) personnel—was conducting a routine patrol along Balusong Drive.
Upon reaching the old LTFRB Building, currently occupied by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), officers spotted suspicious individuals inside the premises.
As officers moved in to investigate, they caught the suspects in the act of theft. The individuals attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended following a brief chase.
The suspects were identified as alias Jojo, 20, and alias Joey, 25. Both are garbage collectors and residents of Tibungco, Davao City.
Police recovered the following items from their possession: Three used car batteries, assorted electrical tools and kitchen knives, and Gloves and ball caps.
Maj Genesis B. Oriel noted that one of the suspects is a repeat offender, having been arrested by the same station for the same offense in February 2025.
He was previously released after posting bail.
“This arrest highlights the effectiveness of our patrol operations,” said Oriel. “We warn criminals that we will relentlessly pursue anyone involved in illegal activities. They will face the full force of the law.”
The suspects are currently in the custody of PS3-Talomo. Meanwhile, theft charges are being prepared for filing.
