THE POLICE Regional Office  (PRO) XI issued safety reminders and guidelines to avoid the adverse effects of extreme heat and drought due to El Niño.

According to the leadership of PRO XI, the public must be prepared and vigilant to protect their health and avoid disasters that are often caused by extreme summer weather.

Among the main reminders of PRO XI are the following:

  1. Water Conservation and Efficiency: The public is urged to use water wisely, turn off the tap when not in use, and store clean water for daily needs.
  2. Health Care: Police advise drinking enough water, eating healthy foods, and getting enough rest to avoid heat stroke and other illnesses.
  3. Fire Prevention: It is strictly prohibited to throw cigarette butts or make fires in dry grass and forests to prevent grass fires and large fires.
  4. Environmental Protection and Community Alert: It is recommended to plant trees and continue to listen to warnings or advisories from Local Government Units (LGUs) and the PNP.

Citizens are also reminded to immediately call the emergency hotline 911 in case of an emergency or in need of assistance.
