THE POLICE Regional Office (PRO) XI has shifted to high alert, activating a comprehensive security framework across the Davao Region in anticipation of Labor Day on May 1.
BGen Leon Victor Z. Rosete, PRO XI chief, announced that the command has intensified operational guidelines to manage mass demonstrations and public gatherings traditionally held during the annual celebration.
The move is part of the “major event security framework,” a strategic approach designed to ensure orderly crowd management and public safety.
The regional headquarters at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido confirmed that intelligence units are currently conducting continuous threat assessments.
These operations aim to preempt potential security risks before, during, and after the May 1 events.
“Our goal is to uphold the rights of individuals to peacefully assemble while ensuring that public safety is not compromised,” Rosete said.
Under the directives of PNP Director General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the PRO XI is maximizing personnel deployment to increase police visibility in key areas, including transport hubs, protest sites, and commercial centers.
Commitment to human rights
Amid the heightened preparations, Rosete reminded all personnel to exercise “maximum tolerance” and maintain strict adherence to human rights protocols.
“PRO XI remains committed to being proactive and community-oriented,” Rosete said. “Your Police Dabawenyo is always ready and reliable in maintaining the order and safety of every citizen.”
To ensure a unified response, the PRO XI is coordinating closely with local government units and stakeholders to manage traffic flow and keep the public informed through intensified awareness campaigns.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through official hotlines as the region prepares for the upcoming holiday.
