No casualties as 2 fires hit the city

AN EARLY morning fire in Bucana, Barangay 76-A on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, displaced at least 22 families and 30.

The blaze tore through a residential area, completely damaging 16 homes and partially damaging six others.

According to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire broke out at approximately 2:40 a.m. in Purok 12, St. John. 

Firefighting units, including BFP teams from S.I.R Alpha and Bangoy Alpha, quickly responded to the scene.

The fire reached its first alarm at 3:00 a.m. Firefighters, with the help of auxiliary teams from Central 911 and nearby barangays, including Talomo Proper, Matina Aplaya, and Matina Crossing, controlled the blaze by 3:30 a.m. before declaring a fire-out at 4:13 a.m.

The BFP estimates the fire affected an area of approximately 600 square meters. According to BFP Region XI, no casualties, injuries, or fatalities were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, a residential fire in Barangay 25-C was successfully put out by firefighters in less than an hour, with no reported casualties.

The incident, which occurred at 11:19 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, affected a two-story apartment building along Pag-asa Street. Firefighting units from Bangoy Alpha, Charlie Alpha, and Bajada Alpha, along with six auxiliary responders and one ambulance, were dispatched to the scene.

The fire reached its first alarm at 11:19 a.m. Due to the quick response, firefighters were able to place the blaze under control by 11:37 a.m. and declare a fire-out at 11:50 a.m.

Around five individuals were involved, but fortunately, no casualties, injuries, fatalities, or missing persons were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
