THE DAVAO del Norte Police Provincial Office arrested two minor suspects in connection with the robbery-killing of a 19-year-old UP student inside her home in Barangay La Filipina in the early morning hours of July 9.

Police Regional Office XI regional director Brig. Gen. Joseph Arguelles commended the DNPPO for the swift resolution of the case after two of the four suspects were caught in a follow-up operation on July 10.

The DNPPO initiated a hot pursuit operation, led by Colonel Alexander Serrano Jr., acting on the information provided by a witness and a trusted informant.

This led to the successful arrest of two male minors at a boarding house in Tagum City. They face a charge of robbery with homicide. Authorities recovered an Apple laptop, an iPad, a broken iPhone, and two wristwatches believed to belong to the victim from the suspects.

Police also found a bloodstained butterfly knife and a kitchen knife, which are believed to have been used in the crime.

The police are still on a manhunt to catch the two remaining suspects.

Meanwhile, the arrested minors have been turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), while the evidence was endorsed to investigators for proper handling.

Arguelles lauded the rapid and coordinated efforts of the operating units.

“We thank our ground units, especially Colonel Serrano, and the community who helped in solving this case quickly,” he stated. “This shows our strong commitment to justice and public safety.”
