THE UNIVERSITY of Mindanao Alumni Association Incorporated (UMAAI) is set to host its Annual General Assembly on July 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the UM Ma-a Gym.
“This is not just an ordinary event. Karong tuiga, magkakaroon rin tayo ng election of new Board of Trustee. Meron din tayo mga pa-raffle for the attendees. That’s why I am inviting everyone to go with us, to join us this coming 26th day of July,” said UMAAI president (Ret.) Brigadier General Leoncio A. Cirunay Jr. on Wednesday morning, July 9, at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Over 1,000 participants are expected at the gathering, which also serves as a homecoming for both recent and longtime graduates.
Aside from the Annual General Assembly, Merci G. Duduaco, the auditor of UMAAI, said that the alumni association will roll out a series of activities from July to December.
“Meron tayo mga activities na mangyayari. Meron tayo yung fun run. Meron tayo yung walk for a cause. Magkakaroon tayo ng disco fever and at the same time, magkakaroon tayo ng gala. Gala night, wherein we are going to recognize the outstanding alumni of the University of Mindanao.” Duduaco said.
UMAAI also highlighted its community involvement and ongoing projects. These include partnerships with military groups for tree-planting and medical missions.
“We are also contributing doon sa mga ibang facilities like a shuttle service that makes it easier for the students to go around the university campus. And then aside from that, meron din po tayong scholar na sini-send natin who has to maintain a grade,” Duduaco added.
Duduaco also clarified the expected guests to attend the event, including Councilor and Acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II, Congressman Omar Duterte, UM president Dr. Guillermo P. Torres, and local councilors.
