A HEATED argument over a parking space escalated into a fatal stabbing incident at Ponte Verde, beside Sta. Lucia Mall in Barangay Communal, around 1:35 p.m. on July 2.

The altercation resulted in the death of one taxi driver and the immediate arrest of another.

The primary suspect, identified as 36-year-old alias John, a married taxi driver residing in Agdao, was promptly apprehended.

The victim, alias Ramil, also a taxi driver and a resident of Sonlon, Asuncion, Davao Del Norte, succumbed to his wounds.

According to the initial report, personnel from the Mobile Patrol Unit, including PSSg Jefrey Jabel, PCpl Jonard Bregole, PSMS Javines, and PSSg Aquino, swiftly responded to a call of a commotion. They arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect.

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession was a gaff, locally known as “tare,” believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

The victim was rushed to Metro Davao Medical and Research Center Inc. in Bajada but was declared dead on arrival at 2:13 p.m. by his attending physician.

Initial investigation revealed that the altercation began when the two argued concerning the parking of their respective taxi cabs. The verbal dispute quickly escalated into a fistfight, during which Jhon allegedly stabbed Ramil multiple times with the confiscated gaff.

Jhon and the recovered evidence have been brought to the Buhangin Police Station for proper disposition. Meanwhile, pertinent documents are currently being prepared for the formal filing of a case against the suspect.
