TASK GROUP (TG) Condor, a crucial unit under Task Force Davao, was lauded for its “unwavering commitment, sacrifices, and tireless efforts in keeping Davao City safe and secure” as it celebrated its 3rd Founding Anniversary on July 21, 2025.

The celebration, held with a festive Barrio Fiesta flair at TG Condor headquarters in Barangay Lacson, Calinan, underscored the unit’s vital role in the city’s peace and order framework.

Colonel Ronaldo Valdez, deputy commander of Task Force Davao, delivered the message of Task Force Davao commander Colonel Rodrigo Mariñas, extending “warmest congratulations” to all personnel of TG Condor.

“This milestone is not just a celebration of the years gone by, but a solemn recognition of your commitment, sacrifices, and tireless efforts in keeping Davao City safe and secure,” Mariñas’ message read.

“Your dedication and hard work have made a real and lasting difference. Because of your vigilance and proactive stance, we have seen zero terrorist incidents in the city under your watch. That is a success that speaks volumes of your professionalism, discipline, and unity of purpose.”

The message further highlighted TG Condor’s operational achievements, noting that “your consistent operations leading to the confiscation of firearms, illegal drugs, and smuggled items are concrete proof that your group is more than just a deterrent force—you are a decisive operational arm actively shaping the security landscape of Davao.”

TG Condor, one of five task groups under Task Force Davao, is specifically charged with border security along the Davao-Bukidnon corridor, currently headed by Major Joy Damasco as commanding officer.

In a separate message delivered during the event, Major Damasco reiterated gratitude for the group’s “unwavering service.”

“Because of your hard work and vigilance, Davao City has remained safe and free from terror attacks,” the Damasco stated, acknowledging the countless sleepless nights and sacrifices made.

Despite celebrating past successes, the message also cautioned against complacency.

“But while we celebrate today, let us also remember: there is still much to be done. Threats continue to evolve—whether it be terrorism, criminality, or even emerging digital risks,” the officer conveyed, challenging TG Condor members to “keep pushing forward, continue to innovate, and never settle for past achievements.”

An anecdote about “The Bamboo and the Oak” was shared, likening TG Condor to the resilient bamboo that “learned how to bend without breaking,” symbolizing the group’s ability to survive, grow, and adapt despite challenges.

The anniversary concluded with a renewal of commitment: “As we mark this third year, may it serve not only as a celebration but as a renewal of our pledge—to protect, to serve, and to rise above all threats.” The message affirmed TG Condor as “a vital part of our city’s security framework,” urging them to “continue to soar higher, just like your name suggests.”

The day’s celebration included a Thanksgiving Mass and the presentation of plaques of recognition to personnel and stakeholders who contributed to the unit’s mission.

Traditional Filipino dancing and shared laughter capped the festivities, reflecting the “bayanihan” spirit that continues to define TG Condor.

The festive occasion brought together officers, enlisted personnel, CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAA), civilian partners, and special guests to commemorate three years of dedicated service and unity within the task group.

The headquarters was transformed into a colorful venue, reflecting traditional Filipino festivities with local food and lively music, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among the troops and visitors.

The celebration commenced with a thanksgiving mass, setting a solemn tone before the festivities began. Major Joy Damasco, the commanding officer of TG Condor, then extended her heartfelt welcome to all attendees, expressing profound gratitude for the unwavering commitment of the men and women under her command.

A highlight of the program was the presentation of plaques of recognition to various personnel, partners, and stakeholders who have significantly contributed to the accomplishment of TG Condor’s mission over the past years.

Colonel Ronaldo Valdez, the deputy commander of Task Force Davao, was also present to convey the message from Commander TF Davao, Colonel Rodrigo Mariñas.

The message reportedly emphasized the importance of their continued dedication to duty and community.

The anniversary celebration concluded with traditional Filipino dancing and shared laughter, truly embodying the spirit of “bayanihan” (communal unity and cooperation) that TG Condor strives to uphold in both its service to the nation and its internal camaraderie.
