INDIGENOUS Peoples (IP) leaders from various communities in Davao de Oro gathered on Aug. 8, 2025, to reaffirm their commitment to peace and development during the 2nd Pag-asa IP Leaders’ Forum.

Hosted by the 1001st Infantry Brigade at its headquarters, the event strengthened the alliance between IP communities and the military in the province.

The forum served as a platform for open dialogue between IP leaders and Brigade personnel, led by commander BGen Felix Ronnie Babac.

Discussions focused on addressing community concerns and finding cooperative solutions to ensure cultural preservation and inclusive development.

Babac praised the IP leaders for their unwavering commitment to peace and their cultural heritage, calling them “pillars of peace.”

He assured them of the Brigade’s continued support. “We in the 1001st Infantry Brigade will continue to assist you—with service, concern, and genuine partnership—for the continuous peace and development of our province,” he stated.

The event was attended by key figures, including NCIP provincial head Roger Lumbin and Provincial IPMR Canama, as well as municipal IPMRs, IPS leaders, and representatives from the Kagan Youth and IP Women’s Federation.

The forum concluded with a pledge of commitment signed by all participants.
