THE FIRE that broke out at the Imperial Hotel along C.M. Recto Street on Wednesday evening caused an estimated P1.5 million in property damage, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) XI.

The fire, which was first reported at 9:46 p.m., quickly escalated to a third alarm at 10:49 p.m. as firefighters from five BFP fire trucks and 12 auxiliary units responded to the scene.

Around 11:34 p.m., the power was temporarily cut off while firefighters tried to control the ongoing fire. The blaze was declared under control at 11:46 p.m. and was put out at 1:49 a.m. on Thursday.

Despite the significant damage to a 2,400-square-meter portion of the building, the BFP XI reported zero casualties and no injuries. Meanwhile, the cause remains under investigation.
