A 49-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed in the lower abdomen early Saturday morning following a heated altercation over beer at a wake around 1 a.m. at Heater Street corner Dafodil Street, Green Meadows, Brgy. Sto. Niño in Tugbok District.
The victim was identified as alias Ata, married, a dispatcher residing in KM 13, Purok 1, Brgy. Catalunan Pequeño.
While the suspect was identified as Ramil, 49, married, a dispatcher, and a resident of Purok 1, Tangaro Street, Brgy. Catalunan Pequeño.
Authorities were alerted to the stabbing at approximately 1:05 a.m. via a phone call from Central 911.
Responding swiftly, Mobile 2612, manned by PCpl Ambit and Pat Macalandag, was dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and initiate a hot pursuit operation.
They were joined by MC Vista patrollers PMSG Magno and Pat Montejo. Mobile 81, carrying the duty investigator led by PCPT Edith Solidum, also arrived to conduct an ocular investigation.
According to the report of the Davao City Police Office, information gathered from a witness named Junie, both the victim and the suspect had been attending a wake at the Sublay Residence on Heater Street.
While under the influence of alcohol, the two engaged in a dispute over beer, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the lower abdomen.
Alias “Ata” was immediately rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to a social media post by the victim’s child, Ata remains under medical observation after the knife reportedly struck his kidney. The suspect is also believed to have harmed the family’s pet dog during the incident.
Meanwhile, a hot pursuit operation is conducted to locate and arrest the suspect.
