THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO), led by Col Mannan C. Muarip, joined over a dozen government and emergency agencies on Friday, Sept. 27, 2025, for the 3rd River-Wide Flood Simulation Exercise (SIMEX).
Held at the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in Sandawa, the large-scale drill was conducted to strengthen inter-agency coordination, enhance emergency response capabilities, and ensure operational readiness for major flooding incidents across Davao’s riverine communities.
Muarip and the DCPO contingent were welcomed by Rodrigo C. Bustillo, head of the CDRRMO Operations and Warning Division.
The crucial simulation involved active participation from key offices and agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Task Force Davao, the City Engineer’s Office, City Health Office, Public Safety and Security Office, and essential utilities like the Davao City Water District and Davao Light and Power Company, among many others.
“This simulation exercise is a vital step in enhancing our rescue capabilities and strengthening both preventive and reactive measures against disasters—including incidents like Asik-asik flooding and other river-related emergencies,” Muarip said.
He added, “Activities like this allow us to test our coordination, improve our readiness, and build trust across agencies and communities… On behalf of the Davao City Police Office, I extend my sincere thanks to all participating offices and agencies for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful initiative. Together, we move closer to a safer and more resilient Davao City.”
